Inca Trail 4 Days to Machu Picchu

The Inca trail is without a doubt one of the most beautiful in all of the Americas, it will leave you with an unforgettable experience. Of a well-preserved wild nature between the mountain and puna jungle; Inca archaeological groups, linked by a path that offers impressive views. In a spiritual environment, the Incas used this itinerary as a pilgrimage route to a sacred citadel, Machu Picchu.
Itinerary
Day 1: CUSCO – OLLANTAYTAMBO – WAYLLABAMBA
We leave from Ollantaytambo, heading to Km 82 to begin our walk. This will also be our first checkpoint. The first leg is a relatively easy hike over flat terrain until lunchtime. In the afternoon we will walk another 2 hours towards Wayllabamba in a gradual terrain up where our camp is located.

Day 2: WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA (DEAD WOMAN’S PASS) – PACAYMAYO
A new day is starting and why not with the tea in bed, Yes ! We wake you up with some coca tea to re-energize you and start our challenge towards Death Woman’s pass. From this point, your
camping equipment will be carried by the porters.
After our powerful breakfast we start climbing to the highs point to the entire inka trail which it will take us around 5 hours discovering the different ecosystem during our ascension to the pass.
We are going to hike through a beautiful cloud forest and the highlands.
Of course we get a shot stop at Llulluchapampa to have our lunch and give us some extra energy to continue our marching to the top.
Approaching to Dead Woman’s Pass we will realize how much we climbed and gained in altitude ” at the to of world” , after some pictures some inka stones start to show down indicating
our way to camp site, So we go down around 2 hours to our camp site Pacaymayu located at 3,600m or 11,972ft where we have some hot drinks and our dinner too.

Day 3: PACAYMAYO – RUNKURAKAY – SAYACMARCA – WIÑAYWAYNA
This is our cultural day !
We start having a nice hot coca tea and beautiful breakfast. This day we are going to climb over Runkurakay pass 3,950m 12,900ft and exploring many incan settlements along the way.
The ecosystem will be with some variation since we change altitude during the day.
Also today on the way to the final camp site we will be surrounded by the magnificent andes mountains.
Finally, we get to our camp site Wiñaywayna 2,700m or 8,600ft.
It is in this camp site where we say good bye to our helper ” porters” and get our personal appreciation ” tip” to them for their help and support.

Day 4: WIÑAY WAYNA – INTI PUNKU – AGUAS CALIENTES
The final day comes !
At 4:00 am we will begin our walk to the first checkpoint. And then we will walk around 1 – 1½ hours to Puerta del Sol, where you will have your first view of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. From here we will have an additional 30 minutes to the second checkpoint outside Machu Picchu. We will enter the citadel and take a tour of the temples and terraces for about 2 hours . At the end we take a bus to Aguas calientes where we take the train to go back to Ollantaytambo, where we will pick you up and take everyone to Cusco.
